Payroll update from 1 July 2026

Minimum wages increased to $26.44 Per hour

We wish to inform you that the national minimum wage will increase to $26.44 per hour, effective 1 July 2026, following the Fair Work Commission’s annual wage review.

This change may affect payroll calculations, rostering, budgeting, and award‑based entitlements for eligible employees. We recommend reviewing your current staffing arrangements to ensure compliance from the effective date.

Our team will be updating payroll systems and processes accordingly. If we manage payroll on your behalf, these adjustments will be applied automatically. If you process payroll internally and require assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Payday super

A more important legislative change is payday super.  From 1 July 2026 superannuation contributions will be required to be paid at the same time as each payroll cycle. This new requirement is known as Payday Super.

What this means for your business

·        Superannuation must be paid on or before each payday, rather than quarterly.

·        Payroll systems and processes will need to be updated to ensure timely and accurate super payments.

·        Late payments may attract penalties and may not be tax‑deductible.

·        Cash‑flow planning may need adjustment due to more frequent superannuation outflows.

(Payday Super)
